From: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Sent: Monday, March 31, 2014 10:38 AM To: 'Osceola Water Works' Subject: RE: solar bees I would check with the City to see if they have any ordinance on this. I am sure they had to address this similarly when the casino used to sail. I doubt it is an air traffic issue, but that might be another source. We certainly wouldn’t have any input on it. We have two other communities with solar bees on their source water—Montezuma and Des Moines. You could check with the two of them to see how they handled this question. I have to run now, but will send you contacts after lunch. From: Osceola Water Works [mailto:osceolawater2@windstream.net] Sent: Monday, March 31, 2014 10:16 AM To: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Subject: solar bees Janet, The Osceola Water Works is in the process of purchasing two solar bees for West Lake. Please see the attached email I received from solar bee. Hi Brandon, The machines ordered for West Lake require visibility kits which include navigational beacons. The beacons are available in white and amber with a variety of flash codes. We commonly program the beacons with 4, 10, 15, 30, or 60 flashes per minute or constant without flashes. Please check with the regulating authority as they may require a specific color and/or flash code. Once determined, please advise how we should move forward with programming. Do you know who I should contact to answer this question? JANET GASTINEAU
