1/14/2014 It's been a few weeks, however i thought i better add these two conversations to the FOCD. Rick Heller called twice over the past couple weeks requesting permission to burn the tops of power poles they've been or were about to receive from a contractor working for the local electrical utility. Rick said the tops of the power poles have metal straps and insulators attached to them, and they don't compact very well, so he'd like to burn them on their non SDP permitted portion of the landfill property. I told Rick that there's no exemption in the OB rules, not to mention that'd defeat the purpose of spreading the "proper disposal" and "recycling" message we'd like to spread. i told Rick to consider stockpiling them, allow people to come get them to reuse for corner posts or to cut up for firewood. A while later, Rick called and talked to Paul Brandt, upset that they tried landfilling the tops and due to a mishap of some sort, the compactor operator nearly got injured from a top of the power pole that snapped and nearly hit him in compactor. Paul didn't give permission and said he needed to talk to Kurt. Rick called me back a day or so later, and again asked for permission to burn, and again i said that i couldn't give him permission to burn them. KURT LEVETZOW
