10/23/2012 E-mail communication with Mr. Snyder re: Tim, I will address the water system. Dan Olson will address the wastewater system in a separate e-mail. We last inspected the public water supply system on February 14, 2012. A Sanitary Survey Report was mailed on March 15, 2012 which included the requirement to address three (3) deficiencies. As we understand it, a larger chlorine chemical feed pump was installed to ensure adequate chlorine residuals are maintained within the distribution system. I reviewed the most recent MORs, and noted that the system is maintaining at least 0.3 mg/L free chlorine or 1.5 mg/L total chlorine. It should be noted that ammonia is present in the raw water. If the system is not producing true free chlorine, it should be focused on maintaining at least a 1.5 mg/L total chlorine residual within the distribution system. Documentation was provided (photograph) to verify the chlorine solution is ANSI/NSF Standard 60/61 certified. Documentation was provided that the system applied for renewal of the water use permit. The permit should be renewed by now. The report also included several recommendations. It appears that all deficiencies identified during our last inspection have been addressed. Let me know if you have questions. I was thinking everything was in order. Fremont County is wanting some word from your Department stating that things are in order. Here is what I know has transpired in the last year or so. • New media in one of the water filters. • New larger pump for chlorine. • Water plant gone through after flooding including new control panel damaged in flood. • New aerator in one cell of the lagoon. • Another new aerator is on order to have as a spare. • Flow meter installed at lagoons. • Transducer replaced due to damage from animals. If I have missed something or you know of something that is deficient please let me know so we can address it. Tim Snyder Region Manager 209 S. 19th Suite 555 Omaha, Ne 68102 402-690-3892 KEITH WILKEN
