11/9/2012 From: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Sent: Friday, November 09, 2012 10:13 AM To: 'OSCEOLAWATER DEPARTMENT' Subject: RE: optimization training/chlorite question Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I checked with our water supply engineering staff to see if the chlorite exceedance in the DS was something the optimization contractor could help with and she said this was really outside of their scope of training. However, Jennifer Bunton suggested you contact her and she could follow up with other states. You can contact her at 515-725-0298. If she's out of the office, just leave her a message and she'll get back to you. JANET GASTINEAU
9/13/2012 From: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2012 10:35 AM To: 'OSCEOLAWATER DEPARTMENT' Subject: RE: osceola MOR Brandon, the reason you took extra samples last time this happened was because it was a chlorite exceedance at the WTP while conducting your daily monitoring. Follow up is to take three samples the day after a daily sample exceeds the MCL, but these results came from the routine monthly distribution system monitoring so no additional sampling is needed this time. It will be a non-acute MCL violation. JANET GASTINEAU
9/13/2012 From: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2012 10:28 AM To: Naughton, Cecilia [DNR]; Spoelstra, Chris [DNR]; Lynam, Anne [DNR] Subject: osceola MOR I looked at their MOR and the highest chlorine dioxide level in August was 0.48 mg/L (MRDL=0.8mg/L) and for chlorite 0.86 mg/L (MCL=1.0mg/L). The operator is on vacation but will be back in the plant tomorrow. He was surprised by the high DS levels. JANET GASTINEAU
