7/25/2012 0931 hrs: Received a call from Jim Meade. Jim stated that a minor amount of water had reached their road, but nothing had left the site. He stated there was no hydrant on-site, so there had only been the amount of water the fire department had on their truck when they arrived, and most of it went down the drains to the leachate tank. Employees were currently "mopping-up" the water on the road. I asked about the unburned garbage on the trailer and Jim stated that he will inquire of Service Master if they have any ideas. Otherwise, he said he will have to get a backhoe to remove the material, since the trailer doesn't work in it's current condition. The garbage will be handled as usual. He also stated that he has another trailer leased and is awaiting its arrival. TRENT LAMBERT
7/25/2012 0833 hrs: Received a call from Jim Meade. Jim stated the fire had been put out, and that it had, in fact, been contained to the MSW trailer. The only other damage is smoke damage to the building itself. The trailer had been pulled-out of the building and it still contains approximately 1/3 load of burned garbage. According to Jim, Service Master has been contacted to clean the smoke damage. I asked if the facility was still operational and Jim stated that they still have use of the skid loader and they can use the C/D waste side of the building to handle garbage; so they are still operational. I asked what happened to the runoff water from the fire fighting, and Jim explained that most of the water went down a drain in an outside, concrete bay or went down a drain inside the building. Both drains are plumbed to the leachate tank, so the water is contained. He did not think any water left the site, but if any escaped the building or outside bay, they have HAZ-MAT clean-up materials on-hand to deal with it. I asked Jim to check once more to be sure nothing left the site and to call me back; as we would be concerned if anything reached a tile intake, etc. TRENT LAMBERT
7/25/2012 0705 hrs: Received a call from Jim Meade, Director of the Wright County Sanitary Land Fill. Jim stated that workers arrived at work this morning and found the garbage building on fire. According to Jim, the fire appeared to be contained to a MSW trailer parked inside the building, and there were no hazardous materials, etc., present in the building. He stated the fire department had been on-scene for approximately 20 minutes. He stated he would call back as soon as he had more information. TRENT LAMBERT
