7/24/2012 Mike had some questions about what happens if they exceed 0.3 NTU turbidity in the CFE. From: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 8:00 AM To: 'McCurnin, Mike' Subject: DMWW A treatment technique violation would result if the combined filter effluent turbidity exceeds 0.3 NTU in more than 5% of the measurements taken each month. This is a Tier 2 public notice and you must provide the initial public notice as soon as practical, but no later than 30 days after the system learns of the violation. Consultation with the department should occur within 24 hours. The required language is attached. A Tier 1 public notice occurs when there is a violation of the treatment technique requirement by a surface water or influenced groundwater public water system resulting from a single exceedance of the maximum allowable turbidity limit. Public notice is provided as soon as practical but no later than 24 hours after you learn of the violation. Consultation with the department must occur within 24 hours. I hope this is helpful in your decision making. Please refer to the attached copy of the rules for more details. JANET GASTINEAU
