10/7/2011	During our 5OCT11 inspection, landfill manager Lou Lorenson asked me what were the requirements if Waste Managment wanted to raise wild pheasants and release them onto their property. I spoke with Winnebago County Conservation Officer Lucas Dever and he advised me that the rules had been recently made less restrictive and there were only 2 requirements: 1 - the eggs or chicks must be obtained from a legal source (i.e., an Iowa licensed game breeder); and 2 - the pheasants must be released on private property with the permission of the owner (people cannot stock public lands). I called Mr. Lorenson this date and let him know, and also suggested he speak directly with Officer Dever because Waste Management was considering some other wildlife initiatives as well.
