8/31/2011 Doug Miller called to say that Waste Management will no longer accept a diatomaceous earth waste stream from a biodiesel facility they have been running through the transfer station and up to Central Disposal in Lake Mills. He wants to know what would be required to send this waste out of the Solid Waste Planning Area down to the Fort Dodge Landfill. From: Miller, David [DNR] Sent: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 9:16 AM To: Kossuth3 [DOT Contact] Subject: Diatomaceous Earth Waste Stream Doug – As long as Waste Management “authorizes” the waste stream to be taken out of the Planning Service Area, you can send it to Ford Dodge if they will to take it. Waste Management’s refusal to accept the waste stream can be construed to be tacit authorization that it may be sent elsewhere. Fort Dodge is accepting that diatomaceous earth from other facilities, so if you can work a deal with Mike Grell at the Fort Dodge Landfill, you can proceed. Regards, David DAVID MILLER
