7/21/2011 On 07/21/2011 at ~1445 Ms. Stacy Greene, Environmental Manager, for Revstone called in regards ot the complaint, complaint #07/11-01, investigation on 07/11/2011. Ms. Greene indicated that she had contacted the complainant, Ms. Wright; and that Ms. Wright was upset. Ms. Greene mentioned that she had learned that Ms. Wright had contacted Revstone and that no one had responded. Per Ms. Greene, that was being addressed. Ms. Greene mentioned that she had consider offering to wash the house. Ms. Greene was informed that Ms. Wright had filed a complaint for dust and odor against one of their neighbors, and that it had been investigated by a co-worker. Ms. Greene indicated that the complainant, Ms. Wright, had mentioned to her that I had collected a dust sample. Ms. Greene was informed that I had collected a sample from the complainant's home and that it had been mailed to the lab for analysis to determine what type of dust it may have been and if the dust was from a grey iron foundry or another industry such as metal fabrication. She asked if they could get a copy of the results. She was informed that they would receive a copy. Ms. Greene and I discussed the investigation and observations. Ms. Greene was informed that I had observed the facility from several locations; and that I did not notice emissions from the stacks. In regards to fugitive dust, she was informed that I had noticed forklifts driving around the lot and at times fugitive dust was seen on their property, but that it could not be detected crossing the property line or railroad tracks to the north. Ms. Greene was informed that pictures were taken to document observations. We discussed the rules regarding fugitive dust and taking reasonable precautions. We discussed the other industries in the area and the fugitive dust from their gravel parking lots or lanes. Ms. Greene was informed that as I was talking with the complainant a truck went through the lot across the street and stirred up a lot of dust. Opacity and reporting excess emissions were also discussed. Ms. Greene mentioned that during her conversation with the Ms. Wright, Ms. Wright mentioned that she had photographed smoke coming from the cupola at ~2300 on 07/19/2011. Ms. Greene thought she would mention it in case we received a call. Ms. Green believes the smoke may have been due to the plant shutting down for the evening. Ms. Greene was informed that the complainant had been instructed to take pictures, and that she could e-mail them to the department. Ms. Greene asked if there was anything that the department was requiring as a result of the complaint. Ms. Greene was informed that there would be a follow up letter and it would address the fugitive dust and taking reasonable precautions. As for what they could do, it was suggested that they consider the idea of offering to wash the house and/or get together with the other company's and share the cost. MARK HEIDERSCHEIT
