2/15/2011 From: Bunton, Jennifer [DNR] Sent: Friday, February 04, 2011 10:54 AM To: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Subject: RE: Fremont viability PWSID#6234070 I talked with Brandon this morning. He has a lot of the same concerns that I did. I told him it’s probably fine to participate in the pilot if the city wants to, but to find out exactly how much sampling and work they’ll have to do so they know what they’re getting into. I also told him to try to air gap the pilot from their system, or if they can’t do that, to have the people doing the pilot put in the best backflow prevention they can. JANET GASTINEAU
2/4/2011 Brandon also let me know that he thought some of their higher IFE was being caused by a polymer feed. They were feeding polymer as a filter aid earlier this year to help drop out algae that was in the source water. They continued it but the algae wasn't there some this winter and the polymer was showing up in the effluent as turbidity. He said the January MOR should show how this has come down since they stopped feeding the polymer. JANET GASTINEAU
2/4/2011 From: Gastineau, Janet [DNR] Sent: Friday, February 04, 2011 7:37 AM To: Bunton, Jennifer [DNR] Subject: Osceola atrazine removal pilot Brandon called yesterday to see if I knew anything about this atrazine pilot study they are being asked by Snyder & Assoc to perform. He said LD McMullen and another engineer from Snyder stopped in Wednesday to talk about how Chariton was going to do it and that fell through and they would like Osceola to try it. I told him what I knew based on what you told me last month and told him I would ask you to call him to discuss further. Brandon’s number is 641-414-9374 if you could please get in touch with him. Thanks. JANET GASTINEAU
