If that was the case, we might see some seasonal variation in the copper levels at the POTW. Here's a graph of Donnie's data since February 2021. The blue line is the copper limit. image.png JANET GASTINEAU
3/4/2025 Re: Osceola Water Works Gastineau, Janet <janet.gastineau@dnr.iowa.gov> Attachments Fri, Feb 14, 9:41?AM to osceolawater2 The NPDES permit limits are tighter than drinking water because copper has greater toxicity for aquatic life. The limits in the permit are receiving stream water quality-based limits. I also dumped Miller Product's copper data. This is what they discharge to the collection system. Osceola Foods does not have copper limits, so I don't have that data. On Fri, Feb 14, 2025 at 9:15?AM osceolawater2 <osceolawater2@windstream.net> wrote: This helps, Thank you. I have a message to the attorney that drafted the order to see if a final copy was sent. I can find you a draft if it hasn't been sent to the city. I also attached a data dump for copper for your water system for the last 10 years for your reference and review in case it helps. I sorted it greatest to least, but you can sort it any way you want. I'm also providing you with their copper data for comparison. You can get older water supply data than what I provided by going to the drinking water portal https://programs.iowadnr.gov/iowadrinkingwater/Report/SampleResults We are requiring the City to do an industry review for copper sources. I further understand that one item of concern is a copper exceedance. I was told Mr. McCuddin the Waste Water Superintendent feels the copper exceedance is tied to the operation of the water utility. How do I obtain a copy of the consent order and the operating permit? I would like to dive into this further, so I can explain the copper exceedance isn’t linked to the operation of the water utility. Thanks, Brandon JANET GASTINEAU
