12/27/2024 On Friday, December 27, 2024 Nathan Casey sent the following email to Janet Gastineau and copied me: Janet, Our total chlorine analyzer at the Bondurant Booster Station failed this morning. We think we have it working again, but because of the work we had to do, the manual says we won’t be able to trust the readings for at least 24 hours. Over the weekend I’d like to do grab samples for the total chlorine at this station at least until we can trust the readings. We do monitor chlorine and ammonia flow to ensure the chemical feed system is working properly. If you remember we have a second analyzer at this site. That analyzer has never worked very well, it periodically drops to 0, but we can also monitor it to ensure we don’t have any problems. Operators will do daily grab samples and calibrate the meter until we’re sure the readings are accurate again. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. 12/27/2024 On Friday, December 27, 2024 I received a call from Nathan Casey with the Des Moines Water Works. He called to report the CL 17 continuous chlorine monitor at the Bondurant Booster Station was not working properly (they boost with chloramines from this station). He wanted to know if it was OK to do daily grab samples until they get the monitor working again which he thought wouuld not be until Monday (December 30th). I told him under the circumstances that should be fine. BILL GIBBONS
