2/23/2024 Email from Jeff Godwin, Engineer with Snyder & Associates: Jeff Irlbeck with Waspy’s Truck Wash has requested that we set up a meeting with Iowa DNR staff and the City of Audubon to discuss the current status of wastewater treatment and a potential revision of the Significant Industrial User agreement. We (Jeff and Handlos) would like to meet at Waspy’s Truck Wash. I will be there in person while Darin Jacobs from our Ankeny office will attend via Teams on my cell phone.Iowa DNR has no information to date showing that the City of Audubon is meeting NPDES permit effluent limits. After talking to Jeff today, he sent this email. I spoke with Iowa DNR staff today. Here is a summary of our conversation: The first step is for the City of Audubon, Waspy’s, and the engineers to agree on flows and loads which the city is able to accept from Waspy’s. The latest numbers I received from JEO engineers are as follows: The city can accept up to 5,700 gallons per day (845 mg/l BOD) = ~40 lbs of BOD/day. This equates to approximately 4 trucks washed per day. Waspy’s has made some additional operational changes since this data was received. The purpose of our meeting request is to reach an agreement for final acceptable flows and loads. Once the City of Audubon and Waspy’s have agreed to acceptable flows and loads, then we will follow Iowa DNR procedures to submit a new SIU permit application. KRISTI BURG
