12/5/2023 Update: Osceola Inbox Gastineau, Janet <janet.gastineau@dnr.iowa.gov> 9:19?AM (24 minutes ago) to me Lake pool low, calcium hardness bouncing all around and adjusting caustic up and down in response. Langalier index showing 8.8 pH, but 8.1 to 8.3 is more usual. 100 in the morning and 40 in the afternoon in the raw. Concerned about corrosivity. Phosphate possible. Modified intake level to be switched wednesday. Still on free chlorine and will be a couple more weeks. Caustic used for pH adjustment--feed is through the roof. Travis with chemsult is helping with phosphate, possibly for DS protection and benefit from flushing since they're limited. Plant start up tomorrow will be using the lower level. Upper pipe is about waist high high right now. Thinks they'll be fine this winter but next spring. Nothing new with arbor lake or the quarry. Engineers are supposed to have some information about volume available. HOA let them on the property to get some data. Nothing going on with the quarry. Same product RRWA uses. Copper showed up a little in the lagoon sample, but was taken at the time they were agitating. Send information on how to initiate a pilot project for the phosphate. JANET GASTINEAU
