3/14/2023 3/10/22 Robin emailed a clarification noting that an exceedance had NOT occurred. Email below: Chris, It is our internal policy to notify the IDNR Field Office whenever we discover a potential exceedance. Upon further review it is determined that the Lansing Generating Station did not exceed any limits when operating the heating boiler BST5. Operating limit – The annual heat input to this unit shall not exceed 28645.2 MMBTtu per twelve (12) month period, rolled monthly.* (*a limit of 28645.2 MMBtu per year equals 876 hours per year.) The operating limit is 28,645.2 MMBtu. When calculating the actual annual heat input using the fuel oil burned the result is 14,375 MMBtu (12 months rolled), well below the limit. * 876 hours is based on the unit operating at full load not actual hours. This boiler operates at 32% of load to meet the heating demand, the calculated hours based on fuel oil burned is only 439 hours (12 months rolled), well below 876. 3/8/2023 Robin called to report that an operational hours limit had been exceeded for BST5 Boiler. The generating station has been shut down since 12/31/22 but the boiler was still in use for heating purposes. See attached. CHRISTOPHER GELNER
