2/23/2023	Rhonda called asking for an update to the Chamness situation. I explained that DNR FO6 conducts monthly site visit to check on and document the progress of cleanup of the pad (primarily). We also note the status of the leachate lagoons. Since Chamness missed the deadline to clean up in the last Administrative Order (AO), prior to referring someone to the Iowa Attorney Generals office, DNR needs approval from the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission (EPC), which was scheduled for March. However, due to a scheduling conflict, the date of meeting with the EPC got pushed until April. In the meantime, Chamness is continuing to build rows of compost on the pad with NO NEW MATERIAL - just old material that has been on the pad for the past 4-5 year, in an effort to dry it out enough to screen and land apply the compost. As for future permitting of the site, they first have to get into compliance with the past issued AO before DNR would consider repermitting them for another compost operation.	KURT LEVETZOW
