5/26/2022 On 05/26/2022 at ~1325 received a call from Mr. Chlystun regarding a question on self-monitoring requirements for manganese. Mr. Chlystun explained they are required to collect a sample daily; and it was noted that the operators forgot to record data for May 24 & 25, 2022. Mr. Chlystun indicated there would be an explanation on the monthly operating report (MOR) for May. What Mr. Chlystun wanted to know was if the facility had to post public notice. Mr. Chlystun was informed they did not have to post public notice for missing two days. It was mentioned that as long as they provided an explanation on the MOR that would be sufficient. In addition, a note would be entered in the DNR database to show he had contacted the Field Office. Mr. Chlystun was informed it was technically a violation. It was explained that the primary reason for the self-monitoring requirements was to help run the plant efficiently by ensuring treatment units were operating efficiently. As for public notices, they were primarily for such things as positive bacterial samples or exceeding an MCL. MARK HEIDERSCHEIT
