12/29/2021	On 16DEC21 Wright County Transfer Station Operator Travis Connor contacted me and said that there were as many as 19 Centrum chicken barns damaged by the storm and most of them would need to be demolished and run through the transfer station. He said the debris might be coming in faster than he could haul it to the Landfill of North Iowa (LNI) and wanted permission to store it on the grounds outside the transfer station. I advised him that, considering the disaster proclamation, clean rubble & metal could be temporarily stored outside, but all other debris must be run through the transfer station. I also advised him that, since the buildings did not have an asbestos inspection, all debris must be considered asbestos containing and he needed to notify LNI of that prior to tipping. Centrum attorney Jan Kramer called me shortly thereafter and said that they wanted to option of burying all the material on-site. I briefly went over the farm waste disposal options in Chapter 100 and elevated this matter to DNR’s Mike Sullivan. I later learned that Centrum had elected not to pursue this option at this time.
