2/8/2021 Gastineau, Janet <[email protected]> 7:27 AM (8 hours ago) to Mike, Nathan, Tom, Katie Thank you for the follow up inquiry. My response is as follows: Yes, a “total chlorine” analyzer will be sufficient. No, you will not need the more sophisticated analyzer that captures total chlorine, free ammonia, mono-chloramine, and total ammonia since there will be no chemical additions. This discussion is a bit dated, but staff here are wrapping up a small package to allow flow from Bondurant PWS back into our chloraminated section of DMWW PWS. Previous discussions below indicated that this would be a SEP back into our system. We are comprising a meter pit install with on-line instrumentation w/process values being transmitted over our radio telemetry system. No chemicals being added at this site. We want to make sure we install the proper instrument. Will a “total chlorine” analyzer be sufficient? Do we need the more sophisticated analyzer that captures total chlorine, free ammonia, mono-chloramine, and total ammonia? The journey for this water will be as follows: Original disinfection occurs at Fleur Plant (CT via free chlorine). Water travels through distribution system to a pump station with a chloramination process. Chlorine and ammonia are added. This site presently includes the more sophisticated instrument with total chlorine, free ammonia, mono-chloramine, and total ammonia. Water exits the chloramination site and travels through the rural portions of our system and into the Bondurant PWS. Water will then flow through Bondurant PWS to this new metering pit where it will flow back to the chloraminated portion of our system. The instrument at this site is the one in question. Thoughts? Katie Vandal and I would be available for a short call if that would help. JANET GASTINEAU
