12/15/2020 December 1st: After not getting a response I sent this to Eldon: Morning! Any updates? ALISON MANZ
12/15/2020 October 27th - Response: I emailed the Department’s Aug. 26 response to Randy on the same day I received it. To help with his decision as to how to respond to the well claim, I suggested he have the well tested since they have never had a problem with the water quality from the well in the 23 years since the hog building has been there. He worked with the Greene County Sanitarian, Chuck Wenthold, to have the well tested. I spoke to Chuck in early September and he said the sample results were fine for E. Coli and high, but not a concern, for coliform bacteria. He said he would discuss the test results if the Department has questions. I spoke to the well driller and he and the Stephensons do not agree, as set out in my Aug. 3 letter, with the Department’s determination and explanation that the well does not meet the definition of a deep well. Furthermore, based on their experience for the last 23 years and the recent well test, the Stephensons are satisfied that the confinement building does not pose any threat to the well. While they do not believe any action should be required on their part, the Stephensons would like to get this resolved. They have been busy and we have not had a chance to decide how to respond to the Department but I will contact them now that harvest is hopefully winding down. ALISON MANZ
12/15/2020 Can you please confirm whether you have notified Mr. Stephenson on the DNR's response? Also, if you know, what is the status of the well? ALISON MANZ
