8/17/2020 my response: Your request to allow the Tama County Sanitary Landfill to stockpile and burn tree debris from the August 10th storm at the inactive southern portion of the property is hereby approved. I would recommend that smoldering be minimized by allowing the debris to dry out before burning (if possible) and only burning small piles at a time. I am attaching an Iowa DNR disaster debris management form that needs to be completed and submitted to the DNR field office for approval by all entities seeking FEMA reimbursement. BILL GROSS
8/17/2020 email from Doug: As we discussed, the Tama County SLF is seeking permission to stockpile and burn tree and brush debris generated by the August 10, 2020 storm. The approximate area for the stockpiling/burning is shown on the attached figure. The attached figure also shows existing landfill infrastructure - no infrastructure exists in the proposed burn area with the exception of 2 monitoring wells located in the extreme south west corner of the area. The area is also over 1/4 mile from residences, the building located immediately east of the Phase 5-7 Expansion across K Avenue is not a residence. BILL GROSS
