8/11/2020 We are looking into some different scenarios for Woodbine and wanted to check with you regarding some possibilities. 1) If we shutter the site temporarily with low pig prices a. Would we select being a SAFO on the short form? = YES b. We would still have the liner repair to do as planned or would that get extended until we filled with pigs again? YES IT WOULD STILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED. 2) If we decide to shut it down for good a. What kind of closure items would be recommended/required for the manure system/barns and is there a timeline? I PROVIDED CLOSURE GUIDANCE (in google docs) 3) If we sell the site a. If we get a buyer this fall before pumping and the lagoon liner repair, would that burden be transferred to the buyer? My response: yes, they would have the same responsibilities because as the new owner they would be responsible for making sure manure wasn't released from the basin. They wouldn't necessarily have the same requirements to fix it as the current owner does but the same responsibility of containing the manure so I would imagine it would eventually require the basin to be fixed.
