4/3/2020	I talked to Tama Co. SLF and Marshall Co. SLF staff. In order to protect landfill staff, both landfills are only taking waste from customers with accounts so they don't have to deal with cash or credit cards. They are directing people without accounts to the haulers with accounts. I expressed my concern about open dumping. Both landfills said that the haulers are fully cooperating and it seems to be working well (no noticeable illegal dumping yet). They said several other landfills in east central Iowa are doing this (e.g., Iowa City, Benton Co., Iowa Co.). I don't know of any other landfills in Region 5 doing this. I suggested to Tama and Marshall Co. that they allow non-account customers to phone in their credit card numbers. Tama Co. seemed receptive to this; Marshall Co. said their system isn't set up to take credit cards by phone.	BILL GROSS
