5/22/2019 At 10:23 am on 5/22/2019, I called Eric Cherko at 402/681-5622. We spoke for 11 minutes ending at 10:33. I acknowledged that I had not sent an email to him the previous day regarding wastewater sludge application requirements. I asked if he thought that the material in the on-site non-discharging pond was exclusively silt deposited by the flood or if it likely included some accumulated solids from the wastewater discharged to the pond. If it was purely silt, it may have been acceptable to use the guidelines for the disposal of sand deposited by flood waters. Mr. Cherko indicated that it was possible that there may be some solids from the wastewater in the material that will be removed and I said that I would go ahead and send the sludge application information. Mr. Cherko indicated that the contractor that he had contacted wanted to de-water the pond and then excavate the solids. He asked if that was the only acceptable way to remove the solids. I indicated that some facilities have removed sludge from lagoons using agitation and umbilical application equipment. Mr. Cherko asked if I could recommend a contractor. I indicated that I could not make a recommendation but that he could probably find one by "googling" wastewater applicators or commercial manure applicators. DAN OLSON
