Onsite Comments
Dead fish found in Iowa City on Thursday were most likely killed by a natural fluctuation in water temperatures, according to the DNR. The DNR Washington field office received several calls Thursday about dead fish floating down the Iowa River near the Burlington Street Bridge. When Paul Brandt, a DNR environmental specialist, investigated, he found dozens of dead gizzard shad floating down the river. However, he did not find a source of pollution upstream of where the fish were found. Kill affected "several hundred" gizzard shad.
