Highlighted river segments indicate those impacted in part or whole by this fish kill event. It is not meant to represent the actual extent of the kill.
Fisheries bureau tech found dead trout while stocking the stream. FO speculate that the fish kill is most likely temperature related. Given nearly two weeks straight of highs over 90F, it was likely that stormwater runoff from the previous day's rain was at a high tempterature when it flushed into the stream. The fact that trout, a temperature sensitive species, made up the vast majority of the fish killed also supports this supposition. Live sunfish, minnows, and frogs were observed at the location. Thermograph data and maps included in report. Dead fish were sent to UHL for chemical analysis. Excellent report on file. Chlordane in trout body was 0.27 ppm, 0.60 in the head. Five of the larger fish were sampled. Also low detects on alpha-chlordane, trans-Nonachlor, oxychlordane, and DDE. Two water samples at J Ave bridge and two detects: atrazine 0.11 ppm, and desethyl atrazine 0.14. These two detects probably not assosicated with kill event, but it should be noted that they weren't detected in previous water samples from the stream.
