Onsite Comments
Dead fish were reported in the area of Crandall's Beach. A variety of fish species and sizes were observed from the State beach to the Foot Bridge. One count was performed along 675 feet of Crandall's Beach: 166 yellow perch, 14 walleyes, 1 smallmouth bass, 1 largemouth bass, 3 shortnose gar, 4 northern pike, 1 common carp, 3 bullheads, 1 black crappie, 2 muskellunge, and one bluegill were counted. The cause of the fish kill is undetermined. Most of the dead fish looked to be a few days old. The site was checked 3 days later and no new fish were observed. Fish kill could be from rapid increases in water temperature or a pocket of low oxygen. No reports of spills or substances in the water.
