Onsite Comments

Thousands of yellow bass were observed floating in the lake and along the shoreline of East Okoboji, West Okoboji, and the Lower Chain of Lakes. Yellow bass were observed spawning and the kill is attributed to a rapid increase in water temperature, spawning stress, and year class density. No counts were made and the number reported is an estimate based on observations from boat and shore. More yellow bass likely died than observed.
