Onsite Comments

Owner was transferring hog manure from one pit/tank to another. Hose broke. Estimated 5000 gallons of manure to creek. In-stream ammonia levels in Barry Creek are 90 ppm with stressed and dying fish. Barry Creek flows about 2 miles to Waterman Creek, which hopefully will dilute the ammonia to tolerable levels. Tributary has been dammed and manure release stopped. Flow reportedly in Barry Creek is too great to stop and pump. There is another tributary about 1 mile downstream that should also help to dilute the ammonia.
