Highlighted river segments indicate those impacted in part or whole by this fish kill event. It is not meant to represent the actual extent of the kill.
Sometime during the week of July 11-15, 2016, contaminants entered Buck Creek near or upstream of its 180th Ave crossing, causing a fish kill. Because the fish had died days before the event was reported to the DNR, it is likely contaminants had diluted and traveled far downstream prior to investigation. Furthermore, visual impact to the stream was not observed during the investigation. No evidence of illicit discharge, no recent release of wastewater from the city of Ryan's lagoons.
