The origin of the waste water was from a large confined chicken facility located in Section 34, T99N, R39W in Osceola County. Dead fish were observed in a ditch (tributary of Stony Creek) downstream from the origin. Sampling was possible beginning in Section 1, T98N, R39W Osceola County. The fish kill extended downstream 32,064 yards (18.2 miles) to Section 35, T96N, R37W, Clay County. A tank that contained egg washing liquid was dumped into a corn field and flowed into Stony Creek. The amount of liquid released has not yet been determined.
