Onsite Comments

Suspected low dissolved oxygen stemming from thick ice and snow cover.

The Carter Lake Project Coordinator noticed dead fish on the Omaha side of the lake. Specifically, the fish were in the area directly in front of the discharge from the retention pond in Levi Carter park. Brad indicated the odor from the discharge pipe was overwhelming. There were mixed species that included carp and catfish. The fish appeared to be dead for some time. Brad also had earlier reports of heavy sulfur smells coming from their holes in the ice. Less than 100 mixed species dead fish found.
