Onsite Comments

Only a brief inspection of fish were made. Reporter indicated "100s to 1000s of fish". FO Staff observed dead fish, but did not provide numbers.

No source was found and no followup investigation was conducted by fisheries. No cause identified, but report indicates probable manure runoff from open cattle lots in watershed. Drainage are size 48.2 sq miles 50% row 50% pasture. Stream turbid and high water levels. Reporter stated that he first noted manure in creek almost one week earlier. Investigation found a waterway containing manure leading from open cattle lots to the South Fork Walnut Creek.
