Onsite Comments

Report of a fish kill last evening. The report was that this was on the Cedar River near Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids and that there were thousands of dead fish of different sizes and species.

FO1 investigated Saturday morning and found the kill to be in backwaters of the Cedar River - Robins Lake, located in Manhattan Park. Observe hundreds or thousands of fish but they all appeared to be gizzard shad. DO and pH were both excellent and no evidence of this being related to pollutants was observed.

This appears to be a natural kill related to the changing water/ice conditions.
