Onsite Comments

The crew counted 148 dead fish, primarily White Bass and Hybrid Striped Bass, but there was one White Sucker and one White Crappie observed as well. The fish kill was confined to the mouth of the Marina bay. No obvious signs of a spill, contaminants, or harmful algal blooms were present. Dissolved Oxygen levels were normal and the lake was approximately 1 ft low of Normal Water Surface Elevation. However, the surface water temperature ranged from 88-92°F.

This fish kill was likely a "natural" fish kill, related to heat stress. The air temperature is predicted to drop in two days, which will reduce water temperature and the likelihood of additional mortality.
