Other Ways to Donate to the Iowa DNR

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ mission is “To conserve and enhance our natural resources in cooperation with individuals and organizations to improve the quality of life for Iowans and ensure a legacy for future generations.”

If you are interested in ways to support the mission of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, feel free to explore these other opportunities.

Monetary Donation – Online donations may be made at www.iowadnr.gov/donate. As an alternative to an online donation, we also accept donations by mail. . To mail in a donation, please complete this form and submit it with your check to:

Product Donation – Often times, there are specific product needs where individuals or companies can assist with our mission. These can be for special projects, educational events, or facility or land maintenance projects. Some examples of product donations include lumber, gravel, prairie seed, digital equipment, mowers, binoculars, playground equipment, and kayaks. If you have a product donation that may be able to help in our mission, you may contact your local state park or field office, or contact us.


Volunteer Service – Individuals and groups have contributed thousands of hours to the Department assisting with special projects, maintenance, or land management opportunities. Services have ranged from Eagle Scout projects, welding of park grill grates, repair of mower equipment, invasive species management in our prairies, or laundry services to clean park cabin futon covers. If you would like to offer a service that may be able to help in our mission, you may contact your local state park or field office.


Bequeaths and “In Memory of” Donations – Natural resources have a memorable effect on many people’s lives. There are times the work of the DNR is remembered in bequeaths through a Last Will and Testament or through a donation request made by the family of a loved one who has passed away. We appreciate and are honored that last wishes may include leaving a legacy within Iowa’s natural resources. If you would like to discuss how these types of funds may be integrated into the DNR’s mission or discuss your specific interest, please contact us.


Land Donation – The Department of Natural Resources acquires land to manage and protect natural resources and to provide recreational opportunities. The land acquisition and donation program contributes to the DNR mission by protecting wetlands, forests, scenic areas, prairies, wildlife and fish habitat, rare species habitat, and other resources. Donations for land may include full fee value, bargain sales, or conservation easements. Thank you for considering supporting the work of Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources. The DNR shall be consistent with any rules governing State Agencies as provided for by Iowa law, Chapter 565.3. Donations directed or intended to be directed to the Department, its employees in the performance of their duties, or targeted to individual Department facilities, should go before the Natural Resource Commission (NRC) for appropriate recognition, review, and acceptance.
