Des Moines River Ottumwa - DS
Invert Sampling Series #1595
A sampling series is a set of benthic macroinvetebrate sessions that are used to generate an Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI). A standard series will contain 3 quantitative sessions and one qualitative session. However, sometimes quantitative replicates are lost in the field, buried, or otherwise damaged enough not to be included in a series. There may even be an extra replicate collected and included in the series. This is rare and typically only occurred during the early stages of the biological assessment program.

Comments
One artificial substrate was tampered with and pulled on shore. Another substrate was in too deep of water to retrieve. The substrates were deployed in an eddy with zero velocity. The whole sample reach was low velocity.
