Segment Memos 1
Prior to the 2004 assessment, this segment was a single 19.628 mile segment identified as IA 04-EDM-971. It was broken into two segments, now listed as IA 04-EDM-971 and IA 04-EDM-1882 to reflect the location descriptions and (now abandoned) classifications (HQR) as described in the Surface Water Classification. All previous assessments referring to the original 19.628 mile segment (previously known as IA 04-EDM-971) can now be found listed in the documentation for segment IA 04-EDM-1882. Prior to the 2008 Section 305(b) cycle, this river segment was designated only for Class B(WW) aquatic life uses, including fish consumption uses. Due to changes in Iowa’s surface water classification that were approved by U.S. EPA in February 2008, and due to the completion of a Use Attainability Analysis in 2007, this segment is also now designated for Class A1 (primary contact recreation) uses. This segment remains designated for warmwater aquatic life use (now termed Class B(WW1) uses) and for fish consumption uses (now termed Class HH (human health/fish consumption uses).
