Segment Memos
1
(1) Due to changes in Iowa’s surface water classification approved by U.S. EPA in 2008, this segment has presumptive Class A1 primary contact recreation and Class BWW1 warmwater aquatic life designated uses. According to Iowa Water Quality Standards, all perennial streams and intermittent streams with perennial pools that are not specifically listed in the Iowa surface water classification are designated as Class A1 and Class BWW1 waters. (2) This stream segment is a USGS named stream from mouth at Easter Lake to headwaters (~ 3 miles). However, this stream has several storm-water retention ponds and is also considered intermittent. Iowa DNR currently has no methodology to assess these types of streams.
