Prior to the 2008 Section 305(b) cycle, this stream segment was designated only for the Class B(LR) aquatic life use. Due to changes in Iowa’s surface water classification that were approved by U.S. EPA in February 2008, this segment was designated for the Class A1 (primary contact recreation) use. The stream remained designated for an aquatic life use (now termed Class BWW2 aquatic life use). Prior to the 2016 Section 305(b) cycle, this segment was designated presumptively for the Class A1 (primary contact recreation) use. Due to changes in Iowa’s surface water classification that were approved by then Iowa Department of Natural Resources on June 17, 2015, this segment is now designated as an Class A3 (primary contact recreation) use and no longer considered presumptive. Additionally, the Class HH (human health) use was added to the segment.
