Assessment Comments

Stream use assessments in 1990 and 1992.

Basis for Assessment

Used a review of the field sheets from the 1990 and 1992 DNR stream use assessments in Madison County to upgrade the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from FST to FS due to (1) presence of relatively diverse fish communities at both assessment sites (species/ families:  15/4, 12/4), (2) presence of nearly all the expected fish taxa (7 of 8 and 6 of 8) for streams in the Mississippi River portion of the Southern Iowa Rolling Loess Prairies subecoregion (47f), and (3) relatively high quality aquatic habitats with no significant threats to these habitats identified on the field sheets.
