As of April 24th, the equestrian trails are closed due to wet conditions. The 14 mile gravel lake and pond trail remain open for use. When trails have dried sufficiently this message will be removed.

Campground Status: The North, Middle (Beach), and South campgrounds are currently not accepting reservations for 2026 due to ongoing renovations. All campgrounds will remain closed and no camping will be allowed until the renovation is complete. The North campground is expected to reopen on July 15, 2026, while the Middle (Beach) and South campgrounds are not expected to open until Labor Day weekend. Once the project is complete and the DNR establishes firm reopening dates for all three campgrounds, we will send a notification email prior and then reservations will open up for the remainder of the season. If you wish to be notified of the reopening, please fill out the following form: Brushy Creek Campgrounds Notification Google Form. Shower Building Closure: Both Modern Shower Buildings will be closed due to renovations. Construction is planned to be done by May 16, 2026. There are port-a-potties available near the shower buildings as well as the Vault toilet located near sites 11 and 10 available for use. Clear Lake State Park - Effective: 2/26/2025

Lodge Renovation: The Clear Lake Lodge will be closed May 1 - September 30, 2026, for repairs/renovation.  DNR can notify you if the project is completed sooner and the closure is removed, allowing for rentals. Campground Status: The south half of the campground is currently closed through June 30, 2026, due to renovations. When the project is completed and a date to reopen is set, the IA DNR will send an email. Water Update: The Campground is open for the season. Hydrants and Electricity are on at the sites, and the dump station is open. The Shower House in the upper portion of the campground is open for the season. The Shower House in the lower portion of the campground opens later in April. (Posted April 1, 2026)

George Wyth State Park - Effective: 2/6/2026

Campground Closure for Potential Flooding: Due to potential flooding in the spring the campground is closed April 1 - May 16, 2026. Each week on Monday’s the DNR will determine if the closure can be lifted for reservations the following Tuesday - Monday. Green Valley State Park - Effective: 1/30/2026
Union County

Road Closure: Green Valley Rd is closed just south of 130th St. for a culvert replacement.  Estimated closure is 14 days.  To access the north side of the park or the campground you will have to go to 110th St north of the park and bring Green Valley Rd south to 130th St. 140th St. at the spillway is closed for a bridge replacement.  Estimated completion date is September 2026.  (Updated 4/1/2026)

Dock: The east pontoon dock at Opie Ave boat ramp area has been damaged due to ice heaving this past winter. We will be replacing this dock in late May or early June. For slip renters, please use caution while accessing the current dock.

Lake Manawa State Park - Effective: 1/7/2026

Non-Resident User Fee Discontinued Effective January 1, 2026, the non-resident user fee pilot project at Lake Manawa State Park has concluded. Visitors are no longer required to pay a non-resident entry fee.

Lake of Three Fires State Park - Effective: 4/22/2026
Taylor County

As of 4/22/2026, the restrooms and shower buildings in the main campground and the equestrian campground are open for public use. The north campground shower building will remain closed as park staff is working to fix leaks. 

Lake Wapello State Park - Effective: 4/16/2026

Water On: The campground showerhouse and modern facilities are now open/on for the season. (Posted 4/16/2026).

Ledges State Park - Effective: 4/24/2026
Boone County

OAK WOODS SHELTER - The Oak Woods Shelter is currently closed to reservations for 2026. There is a renovation project scheduled to begin in the spring on the shelter and it should be completed by late summer 2026. When the project is completed, the shelter will reopen for reservations.

CARL FRITZ HENNING SHELTER - Starting in the spring of 2026, a park-wide road preservation project will begin. This project will restrict vehicle access to portions of the park for much of the summer, including the Henning Shelter. Currently the Henning Shelter is open for reservations on Saturdays and Sundays only from May through July. At the completion of the road project, the Henning Shelter will reopen for reservations. Ledges State Park - Effective: 4/24/2026
Boone County

The Canyon Drive is currently closed to vehicle traffic after a heavy rainfall event on April 23rd. Once stream levels subside, park staff will clean sediment out of the low water crossings and reopen the road to vehicles. In the meantime, visitors are welcome to hike into the canyon, either along the closed roadway or on any of the trails. The best places to park for canyon access are at the Oak Woods picnic area or the Flood Pole parking lot. This alert will be removed when the Canyon Drive is reopened. 

Lewis and Clark State Park - Effective: 1/30/2026
Monona County

Campground Status: Due to safety concerns created from dead or dying cottonwood trees, the campground will remain closed until further notice. The DNR will be working to remove hazardous trees while the campground is closed. When the project is completed and a final reopening date is set for the campground, the DNR will send a notification email. Banquet Room Closure: Reservations for the Banquet Room will be unavailable beginning in 2023 for repairs and updates. The Banquet Room will be closed for reservations until further notice. Parking Lot Closure: Iowa River Access/Pine Lake Cabin parking lot is closed to vehicle traffic for parking improvements. The bike trail will remain mainly open through the area, however users should be cautious of trucks and construction equipment in the area. Visitors wishing to access the Iowa River can do so using the City of Eldora's access point south of Pine Lake. This alert will be removed once construction is completed and the parking lot is reopened. (Posted: 04/08/2026)

Lower Pine Lake Boat Ramp Closure:Lower Pine Lake boat ramp will be closed starting April 28th for construction of a ADA parking space and a sidewalk leading to the courestsy dock. Dock will be removed on Monday April 27th and will be reinstalled when constrctuion is completed. (Posted 04/24/2026)

Prescribed Fire: Park staff will be conducting prescribed fire resource management activities in Preparation Canyon State Park on April 21, 2026. Expect heavy smoke on April 21 & 22, and active fire within the unit to continue for approximately a week. Staff will continue to monitor the unit throughout this time. (Updated 4/21/2026)

Equestrian Trail Closure: The dirt trails have been closed for equestrian use, the Wet Weather Trail (WWT) is open. This alert will be removed when trail status has changed. (Updated 3/17/2026)

Springbrook State Park - Effective: 4/24/2026
Guthrie County

Facilities and water hydrants are open for the 2026 rec season. The West shower Building is closed for maintenance and will be open back up by May 4th, 2026. The East Shower Building & Pit Latrins are still available for use. The Beach Shelter is also closed for maintenace and expected to be open by May 4th, 2026. (Posted 04/24/2026)
