Green Belt Lake was last sampled in the spring of 2024. This lake has an abundant population of four to seven inch bluegill. Largemouth bass have excellent reproduction and recruitment with some bass exceeding eighteen inches in length. Crappie tend to be low in density but are of quality in size. This lake offers excellent shoreline access and a wonderful fishing pier. Forty two pallet bed structures were placed in many locations within the lake in 2022. (2025)
In nearly all cases, Iowa fish are safe to eat. Cleaning and/or preparing the meal causes most of the problems regarding taste or color of fish. Like all living creatures, fish are susceptible to diseases, parasites, and other naturally occurring conditions in the water. If you suspect your fish is affected by any of these conditions, do not eat it. Consider eating smaller and younger fish which usually have lower levels of contaminants than larger ones.
