In nearly all cases, Iowa fish are safe to eat. Cleaning and/or preparing the meal causes most of the problems regarding taste or color of fish. Like all living creatures, fish are susceptible to diseases, parasites, and other naturally occurring conditions in the water. If you suspect your fish is affected by any of these conditions, do not eat it. Consider eating smaller and younger fish which usually have lower levels of contaminants than larger ones.   • 2017 - Drained-Artificial: Outlet repair, silt pond construction and dredging was completed.
  • 2016 - Drained-Artificial: Willow Creek was drained in 2016 for outlet repair, silt pond construction and dredging. Contractor delays and heavy fall rains have extended the project into 2017 when silt removal will be completed.
  • 2015 - Drawdown-Artificial: Willow Creek was scheduled to be drained during 2015 for outlet repair, silt pond construction and dredging. The drawdown was put on hold because of contractor delays. The project should be completed in 2016.
  • 2009 - Stocking-Channel Catfish: Unknown number of channel catfish escaped from cages into Willow Creek.
  • 2009 - Survey-Population: D.C. electrofishing assessment, June 16th.
