Water temperature earlier this week was 54-55 degrees. Water remains fairly clear and you can see some of the curlyleaf pondweed starting to come up. |
Black Crappie - Fair: When the wind allows it, anglers have been working the flooded timber in 4 to 6 foot of water and picking up some crappies. |
Channel Catfish - Fair: The place to try for them would be along the face of the dam using cutbait when the winds aren't blowing 20-30 mph. We did finally get as couple of days like that. |

In nearly all cases, Iowa fish are safe to eat. Cleaning and/or preparing the meal causes most of the problems regarding taste or color of fish. Like all living creatures, fish are susceptible to diseases, parasites, and other naturally occurring conditions in the water. If you suspect your fish is affected by any of these conditions, do not eat it. Consider eating smaller and younger fish which usually have lower levels of contaminants than larger ones. Most contaminants accumulate in larger, older fish. For additional information, check out our resources for eating and cooking Iowa caught fish.
