Sample data from 2019 found 5- to 6-inch Bluegill common with a few up to 9-inches. Channel Catfish from 10- to 26-inches will excite mid-day anglers. Catch Largemouth Bass from bait stealer size to 16-inches. Find Yellow Perch up to 10-inches along the vegetated edges of the lake. A few suspended Black Crappie and Green Sunfish may be caught while boating around the lake. Channel Catfish are stocked in odd years. In nearly all cases, Iowa fish are safe to eat. Cleaning and/or preparing the meal causes most of the problems regarding taste or color of fish. Like all living creatures, fish are susceptible to diseases, parasites, and other naturally occurring conditions in the water. If you suspect your fish is affected by any of these conditions, do not eat it. Consider eating smaller and younger fish which usually have lower levels of contaminants than larger ones.
