Onsite Comments

The kill began just south (upstream) of the Rolling Hills golf course with dead fish numbers dwindling to the north of the golf course (between 300th St and 290th St). A single dead fish was observed over 200 yards at 290th St. We performed a count on a 375 yard segment of stream (275 yards upstream and 100 yards downstream of 300th St.

ESD was not able to find a source or responsible party and so no expansions were done. The dead fish were reported to ESD on 9-18-19. Golf course employees reported the stream was discolored on 9-17-19. The state of decay matches this timeline.

In 375 yards we counted:

  • 160 minnows and creek chubs
  • 27 white suckers
  • 2 madtoms
  • 5 green sunfish
  • 7 darters
