Highlighted river segments indicate those impacted in part or whole by this fish kill event. It is not meant to represent the actual extent of the kill.
Angler reported seeing dead 'bottom feeder' fish below the dam at Lynxville. Fisheries investigated and found dead fish at the slack water just above and next to the lock chamber and L&D 9. Majority of fish above dam were adult redhorse. The count of the fish above the lock and dam was 48 redhorse, 3 smallmouth bass, 1 drum, 1 carp, and 1 spotted sucker. With the record heat over the weekend and the steady falling river levels and that all of the fish were adults and mostly redhorse, suspected that this was a natural fish kill. No observations of anything that looked freshly dead or dying, so not thinking this is an ongoing event.
