Raccoon River Upstream of Des Moines
Invert Sampling Series #1263
A sampling series is a set of benthic macroinvetebrate sessions that are used to generate an Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI). A standard series will contain 3 quantitative sessions and one qualitative session. However, sometimes quantitative replicates are lost in the field, buried, or otherwise damaged enough not to be included in a series. There may even be an extra replicate collected and included in the series. This is rare and typically only occurred during the early stages of the biological assessment program.

Comments
Water level very low. Anaerobic smell in sediment, pools, runs, and riffles. Fisherman stated flow was the lowest he had seen in 55 years. Velocity in area the art subs were deployed was less than optimal.
