Assessment Comments
Stream use assessment in Lee County.
Basis for Assessment
Used a review of the field sheet from the April 1992 DNR stream use assessment in Lee County to continue to assess support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) presence of a majority of the expected fish taxa (5 of 8) for streams in the Central Irregular Plains ecoregion (40), and (2) indications on fields sheet of above average habitat quality. Results of seining showed only 6 cyprinids present although seining was hindered by rocky substrates. Additional monitoring with other gear types is needed to better determine the status of the aquatic communities of this stream. Given the high quality of the aquatic habitats and riparian zone of this stream, additional sampling may show that the Class B(LR) uses are fully supported without threats to continued support.
